Virtuoso Bass Magazine Launches its first Official Issue.

Bunny Brunel has been named the face of Virtuoso Bass Magazine. As the Editor At Large, he has big plans to bring awareness to the world of bass playing with a heavy focus on those players who have created a sound or technique but maybe haven’t receive their due. In this inaugural issue, Brunel mentions bass players Miroslav Vitous, Eddie Gómez, Alain Caron, and so many more. In fact, the magazine spotlights Carol Kaye and extensively profiles Eddie Gómez.

“I want to talk about great players, and some of these guys, nobody ever mentions. If the media going to publicize bass players, they should focus their attention on those great players who are responsible for what followed after,” states Bunny Brunel.

The first bass player to be featured is Kyle Eastwood, whose had a prominent career touring, performing all over the world. in the issue, he talks about his career and his love of jazz.

“Jazz is my first love, but I love all kinds of music. I love jazz artists and albums from the 50s and 60s: Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Lee Morgan, Horace Silver, Art Blakey, etc.That’s one of my favorite periods in jazz . . . the Blue Note era.”

Bunny Brunel’s famous student is also featured in a lifestyle editorial. Aside from a photo spread, Eastwood’s latest CD, titled Cinematic is also reviewed. And Kyle is on the back cover as well.

The issue is filled with editorials, articles, bass exercises, even tech reviews. EnterTalk’s Florentino Buenaventura interviews Dino Monoxelos of Ampeg for the SVT 50th anniversary amp. Other’s featured in this issue are bassist Stanley Clarke and former EWF keyboardist/composer Larry Dunn, and Virtuoso Bass says goodbye to jazz fusion guitarist/ radio host Tony Palkovic, who passed away last December 2019.
